Power Hitting Sandy

11/04/2008

What a thrill it was to see Sandy Lyle find some of his old form during the first round of The Masters. Three under after twelve made all his old fans (like me) sit up and shout at the TV.

It was even a greater thrill to see him return to the swing that made Sandy, not only one of the great players of his era, but one of the best ball strikers the game has ever seen. Watching him 'rip' into the ball with his 2nd shot into 15 was truly awesome. Unfortunately he over powered the green and took a bogey 6, this didn't reflect the quality of the strike, but maybe reflected a lack of confidence from this true master of the game.

In true Augusta form, the course produces an emotional roller coaster for players and fans alike and in true Sandy style he's kept his fans on the edge of his seat in his second round. Making a fabulous birdie at the 18th has placed him on three over par - just about on the cut mark. Lets hope Sandy gets through so we can see some more of this classy player.
