Female Golfers

Ladies Golf

Here are some points to consider as a lady player: -

  • Females are 40% weaker in the upper body than males. This means that your body positioning and centre body sequencing is extremely important. Good female players swing the club with great elegance and effortless power. Male players tend to ‘slog’ at the ball using upper body strength only, ignoring the power they possess in their body centre. It’s for this reason that many players hit the ball ‘below their weight’.
  • It's very common for ladies to incorrectly rotate their back hip causing incorrect weight shift, loss of  rotation and loss of arm leverage. Due to the weakness of the upper body this is a major cause of power loss.

  • The female bust line can be as issue. A large bust requires the player to increase their spinal angle (upper body tilt), in order to swing their arms above this line. This changes the address position causing your hands to be slightly closer to your body. This also shortens your backswing. It's possible that both arms are slightly more bent at the elbows in the address position - this will work well, but be careful as the lead arm MUST rotate correctly to avoid injury (tennis elbow)

  • Pitching and Chipping can create many problems for ladies as often a lack of technique and confidence restricts skill development. Understanding how to strike the ball correctly and how to create the correct amount of power for the selected distance allows the player to learn quickly.

  • Bunker shots can be a serious problem area - it doesn't have to be that way. Male techniques tend not to work with ladies as men have strong arms and hands which they use to smash the ball out. We will show you how to utilise you own strength to recover from most situations.
